Why did you want to do the TAA/TAE Cert IV?
To formalise my training background and to open up opportunities as trainer and teacher using my other qualifications
Why did you choose to do the TAE with Fortress Learning?
The flexible method of delivery and the cost. After looking at competitors in the training market Fortress provided a great mode of delivery at an incredible value for money.
How long did it take you to do it?
Started in May finished in Dec. There were a few weeks where other things took priority so potentially could have completed the course sooner, however that is the benefit of Fortress’ flexible delivery
Did you do the full course, RPL, or a combination?
I started with the intention of doing the full course, so that I could confirm the extent and validity of my previous experience. I felt that it was important to get a good understanding of the theory and foundations of TAE before going for recognition of prior learning. I ended up using some of my more recent experience to finish some of the practical components of the course.
How painful was the RPL process?
Not at all. However, I think it worthwhile to get through most of the early stages of the course so that you have a good understanding of what should and should not be recognised.
What worked for you?
The extremely flexible delivery method. The web based wiki is excellent. With it and the task based learning approach, I could work at my own pace as and when I had time. I could do as much or as little as my work and family commitments would allow. This was complemented by the rapid and effective feedback provided by Bryan.
What didn’t work for you?
A few minor glitches with forms, but that was probably as much me and the variations in software. In any case, Fortress was quick to assist with and fix issues as they arose.
What advice would you give to others considering studying this course in this way?
Why haven’t you started yet! This is the most effective way of getting your training qualification.
Is there anything else you’d like to include?
I have been involved in distance learning at bachelor and masters degree levels. Fortresses’ approach is one of the best that I have experienced.Bryan’s personal approach demonstrates his commitment to his students and his enthusiasm for the whole learning process.I was so impressed with the course, I have convinced my daughter and several of her colleagues to enrol.
