Training & Assessment Pathway

People who like to receive ongoing feedback and support will prefer the Training & Assessment Pathway.

Our Online Learning programs are part of the Training & Assessment Pathway.

These programs are for people who like to receive ongoing feedback and support.

We provide you with all the materials and resources you need and travel with you as you undertake your studies. Our unique Learning Pod structure ensures that you have consistency in support from a single trainer through your studies. Each pod comprises one trainer their assistant and a limited number of students.

You are able to submit your work for assessment as you complete it, and you can submit items for feedback while they are still in draft form to make sure that you are on the right track.

The Training & Assessment Pathway is the Full-Service option.

Choosing the right pathway

The following questions will help you work out the most suitable pathway for you.

Which Pathway is best for you?

Every person is different. For this reason, there is not a single way to work out which option is best for everyone. Experience tells us, however, that there are some things that help to predict the likelihood of a student’s success. We invite you to consider the following questions. Answering them honestly will give you a very good idea of which Pathway is best for you.

Do you have basic computer skills for using Internet, email and MS Word?

Studying with us requires use of common computing functions. Being able to download and upload documents from websites and emails is a good indicator that you possess sufficient skills. If you are not sure, then we recommend taking a look at our sample course where you will be able to gain a first hand experience of our learning management system.

Do you have a reason to do the course?

There is a clear link between purpose and success. Students who have a clear reason for studying will find it easier to overcome the challenges that present themselves. People with an interest in growing their personal and professional knowledge and skills are the ones who stand the best chance of success.

Are you self-motivated?

Students who can motivate themselves and organise their own time are more likely to succeed in the low-support environment of the Assessment Only Pathway. If you prefer some prompting, then the Teaching & Assessment Pathway will be more suitable.

Are you organised and like a challenge?

Both pathways are challenging, and all studies that are undertaken through distance and online modes require organisation. However, the Assessment Only Pathway does require considerably more organisational skills, and because it lacks the support that comes with the Training & Assessment Pathway, it will require you to be able to work more independently.

Are you thinking you might not make it all the way?

Let’s face it, not everyone finishes. Part of the reason for the Assessment Only Pathway is to allow people a way to at least get started without breaking the bank. If you are not sure that you will complete your studies fully, then the Assessment Only Pathway offers.

What students have said about online learning with Fortress Learning

I have been involved in distance learning at bachelor and masters degree levels. Fortresses’ approach is one of the best that I have experienced. The extremely flexible delivery method. The web based wiki is excellent. With it and the task based learning approach, I could work at my own pace as and when I had time. I could do as much or as little as my work and family commitments would allow. This was complemented by the rapid and effective feedback provided. -Trevor Walding

As a course designer and trainer, I found the Fortress Learning course to be extremely well designed and delivered. -Kathy Mueller

As I am fairly isolated Fortress Learning enabled me to do the course in my own workplace & at my own pace. -Peter Haenig

Very clear and easy to understand. Staff are great! Very prompt to respond if you have a query. The course is very well organised, mixture of simple tasks and more challenging ones which creates a balance. -Nancy Hammond
