Every now and then, a Cert IV TAE student writes a Review that we believe really captures what Fortress Learning tries do. Instead of them ending up hidden among the others, we will share them with you, and try to explain why we think they are so appropriate.
Wendy – what did she say?
When it came to the training bit, I knew I had years of experience and didn’t find it difficult at all. But when it came to the assessments piece – I was a wreck . Luckily I reached out to my trainer Emma, who guided me and supported me in the right manner. She could see I was getting stressed and motivated me to help calm my nerves. It’s a very practical training session. The staff is always ready to help you. It requires focus and time. Overall I had a wonderful experience with Fortress. I’ve been recommending it to all my trainer friends in Dubai.
Why did this particular testimonial comment get our attention?
In amongst Wendy’s gracious praise, she tells some hard truths about the Cert IV TAE with Fortress Learning.
“When it came to the training bit, I had years of experience… but when it came to the assessment pieces – I was a wreck.”
Often, people who have had years – decades – of experience in training or teaching, enrol in the Cert IV TAE with certain expectations. Often, they are shocked. They are shocked that the course is not simply a reflection of the knowledge and skills they already have. They are shocked at how foreign it is and are startled to discover how much they don’t know about being a Trainer and Assessor in the VET world.
“It’s … very practical training.”
Although online, the Cert IV TAE is a practical qualification – it is about actively ‘doing’: actively training real life people; actively conducting assessment on real life people. You need to practically demonstrate your knowledge and skills to mirror its real life application in the workplace.
“It requires focus and time.”
And lots of it… probably more than you thought.
