TAE Cert IV Upgrade Program

TAE40116 Cert IV Upgrades

NRT logoIf you have completed the earlier TAE40110 Cert IV TAE, then upgrading may be as simple as applying credit transfer and demonstrating your currency.

About the Program

The following diagram will help you work out which Upgrade Option is best for you.

TAE40116_UpgradeOptions_Flowchart

Unlike previous Certificate IV in Training & Assessment qualifications, the latest TAE40116 requires people entering the program to be able to:

demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.

How do I do that?

For most people, it will simply be a matter of providing a copy of some other qualification, skill set, or statement of attainment.  If you do not possess another qualification, then we would require you to provide a CV that shows your broad industry knowledge and experience, combined with a Position Description and Third Party Report from someone who can attest to your experience.

Upgrading means that you are recognised for the current skills and knowledge that you have, based on the combination of earlier qualifications you have completed and experience you have gained since then.

Because of the way that Training Packages are constructed, the units from the older TAE Cert IV generally remain equivalent to the units from the newest TAE Cert IV.

That means that we can provide credit for those equivalent units toward the most up to date qualification available.

Additional Evidence

Because TAEASS401 and TAEASS403 are not equivalent to the ones in the old TAE40110 Cert IV, there is some additional evidence that will be needed.  This is shown below.

Would you like to see where you are at?

Experience tells us that a lot of people don’t actually know whether they are eligible for an Upgrade and what would be involved.

For that reason, we invite you to send Emma copies of your results – or just a list of the units completed and she will let you know where you stand.  You can email Emma at emma@fortresslearning.com.au – she’ll be the one looking after you when you enrol, so feel free to tell her anything else you think is important.

It’s all part of helping you make an informed decision.

It’s a good question – lots of people see a time coming when the Cert IV will not cut it for professional trainers, but we are not quite there yet.

It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Most, if not all, of what you do for your TAE Cert IV Upgrade can also be used for your Dip VET.

There are just three steps to follow:

Step 1. You do the TAE40116 Cert IV Upgrade Option that suits your needs.

Step 2. When you finish, you enrol in the Dip VET program.  You get TAELLN411 and TAEASS502 via credit transfer, and the other work you did for the non-equivalent units can be used as part of RPL for TAEASS501 and TAEASS503.

Step 3.  We rebate all but $300 of your Upgrade fee against your Dip VET fees. That basically means your TAE40116 only costs you $300, and you will end up with both the new Cert IV TAE and the TAE50116 Dip VET.

We wrote more about this HERE.

The Cert IV TAE Upgrade Program is specifically for people who possess equivalent units of competency from earlier qualifications, combined with relevant recent experience.

Once enrolled, we will confirm your suitability for the Upgrade program and develop your Personal Learning Plan which outlines which of the following you will need to provide:

  1. evidence of completing earlier units
  2. evidence of currency for the two non-equivalent ASS units
  3. if needed, how you will complete TAELLN411 and/or TAEASS502

Once you have enrolled, we will walk you through these requirements and create a plan that allows you to move forward efficiently.

Upgrade Programs:  How long you will need will depend on whether you also need to complete TAELLN411 and/or TAEASS502

  • If you need to complete either or both of these units, then your enrolment will be 3 months.
  • If you already have these two units, then your enrolment will be 1 month

The fee will depend on whether you need to complete either or both of TAELLN411 and/or TAEASS502.

If you are Upgrading both your Cert IV and Dip VET, you will receive the Certificate IV Upgrade at half price.

Notes:

A description of each Option is available in the image near the top of the page.

The above fees are based on the assumption that you already possess TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and can provide proof of this.  It is also assumed that you have access to relevant physical and human resources to be able to collect the Additional Evidence items.

In the event that evidence of completing TAE40110 is not available, we will provide you with a quote to engage in our RPL process.

It’s one thing to think about taking the next step to secure your future. It is another to actually go and do it.

When you are ready to take control of the direction your life takes, then we invite you to join us.

Our enrolment process involves four steps, as shown below.

Case Studies - Upgrades in Action

Where was Gary at?

Gary has completed the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment in 2017.  As part of that, he also completed TAELLN411 and TAEASS502B.

What did Gary do?

Because he had already attained TAE40110 and had completed TAELLN411 and TAEASS502B, Gary was in a good place to attain the new TAE40116 Cert IV TAE.  Gary:

  • enrolled into Upgrade Option A
  • provided certified copies of his qualifications
  • completed the Evidence Guide we provided and submitted that with the required evidence for TAEASS401 and TAEASS403
  • graduated within a month

He was keen on the Dip VET, so enrolled in that, and was rebated all but $300 from the fee he paid for the Cert IV TAE Upgrade.

Where was Sally at?

Sally has completed the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment in 2015.  As part of that, she didn’t realise but she also completed TAEASS502B.  She did not do TAELLN411, however.

What did Sally do?

Sally wanted to attain the new TAE40116 Cert IV TAE, so she:

  • enrolled into Upgrade Option C
  • provided certified copies of her qualifications
  • completed TAELLN411
  • completed the Evidence Guide we provided and submitted that with the required evidence for TAEASS401 and TAEASS403
  • graduated within 3 months

Where was Larry at?

Gary had started TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment in 2014, and completed 8 units.  He had a Statement of Attainment that showed those units.

What did Larry do?

Because he had not completed TAE40110, Larry was not eligible for the Upgrade program.  Instead, he:

  • enrolled in the Cert IV TAE40116, and completed the units that he had not previously done.  Since he only had 2 units, he negotiated the fee for that.
